All BIS technical people undergo competency assessments. These are both practical and theoretical and the results are compared with industry best practice for specific roles. BIS Inspection can therefore demonstrate how competent that person is to perform specific work roles
These assessments enable BIS Inspection to provide documented evidence of competency for personnel, providing reassurance to the client and an internationally recognised qualification for the individual.
This approach to competencies plays a critical part in reviewing and identifying skill gaps quickly and effectively, ensuring that all roles have clearly defined criteria reflecting the required skill sets. BIS Inspection has established this system as an effective roadmap for an individual progressing through the various grades, helping to determine their training and development requirements.
Unique approach to training and competency assessment
There is no single optimum method that will provide consistent, reliable and accurate results for all inspection scenarios. What is required is an extensive understanding of the benefits and limitations (theoretical and practical) of each technique and the knowledge and skills to deploy the most effective solution each and every time.
At BIS Inspection we advocate a 'toolbox approach', whereby technicians and inspectors are able to select the most appropriate tool, or combination of tools, for the specific task. This unique, holistic approach to inspection is made possible through significant investment in assessing the competencies of all our NDT technicians and inspectors, in addition to developing bespoke, fit-for-purpose training courses to enable us to effectively exploit new technologies.
All BIS Inspection personnel undergo competency assessments run by independent training and consultancy expert (TWI) to analyse an individual's skills, knowledge, understanding and experience required to carry out his or her job. The assessments are supervised by our in-house Training and Competency Coordinator.
